adidas Copa Sense.4 Indoor Soccer Shoe

Shoe Specs:

  • Upper: Synthetic leather
  • Insole: EVA
  • Midsole: EVA
  • Outsole: Gum rubber
  • Weight:
  • Fit: Narrow
  • Closure: Laceup

Adidas Copa Sense.4 indoor soccer shoes are sleekly built, lightweight indoor soccer shoes, with a narrow, modern design, and high quality, durable materials. They perfrom well on the indoor floor, with good traction, and smooth turns. Built as a unisex shoe, they are suitable for both men and women with slim, narrow feet.

UPPER – is made of durable synthetic leather. Insides are lined with cotton mesh. Insole and midsole are made of EVA foam. The upper is not breathable and tends to trap moisture inside the foot, but being leather, it does have a nice sensitive touch for the ball. The lines stitched on top also add an advantage towards better ball control, by roughening the smooth surface of the top.

Insole + Midsole – The inside of the shoe is lined with soft, flexible mesh, covering the lightly cushioned EVA midsole. There are removable insoles made from the same EVA foam. In our tests, we felt that neither the insole nor the midsole offered much in the way of comfort.

Outsole – Soles are standard gum rubber, with non marking patterns. They feel nice and stable on the smooth indoor court. It’s easy to cut and run without fear of sliding as the grip is good.

Fit – The shoe fits snugly around the foot. It is moderately comfortable, with cushioning in the tongue, sides, and midsole. These shoes do run narrow so they might not be suitable for people with wider toe areas.

Price – Adidas Copas fall in the mid-price range.

SENDA Ushuaia Club Indoor Soccer Shoes

SENDA have become one of our favorite indoor soccer shoes. In our experience, SENDAs are made from top quality materials. We love the soft and cool, unisex colors. Design is definitely one of the strong points of these shoes in our opinion.

SENDA Ushuaia Club 2.0 indoor soccer shoes

Shoe Specs:

  • Upper: Natural leather
  • Insole: EVA
  • Midsole: EVA
  • Outsole: EVA
  • Weight: 9oz
  • Fit: Normal to wide
  • Closure: Laceup

SENDA Ushuaia Club 2.0 are beautifully built indoor soccer shoes aimed for players who need more cushioning in their shoes. They have a padded natural leather upper, with quilted lines for increased ball control and touch. With EVA in the insole and midsole, plus a cushioned tongue for further comfort, these are some of the most comfortable indoor soccer shoes in the market. With all the added foam, they are still light (9oz) and flexible. Best for normal/wider feet. Also highly suitable for women.

UPPER – SENDA Ushuaia Clubs has a synthetic leather upper in combination with mesh on the sides and a microfiber strip on the toe box. They are breathable, though not as much as a full mesh upper, but last much longer than a full mesh too.

Then there is the added ball control from stitched lines that counter the smoothness of the upper. Another reason that these shoes provide a good touch is because there is minimal layering on top of the toe box.

Insole + Midsole – Both the midsole and the removable insoles are of EVA. They are super comfortable and the insoles offer a little bit of arch support.

Outsole – The sole is surprisingly, EVA, with a well designed pattern which gave a good experience on the court. Lines in the sole design make it a very good flexible shoe, while the pivot pattern at the top end ensures that turnings are easy and smooth.

Fit – The fit is snug and tight.

Weight – These shoes also win in the weight department. They are light, weighing around 9 oz, and combined with the snug fit, feel weightless on the feet after a few minutes.

SENDA has really created a superb mix of style, performance, and durability in these shoes. The materials they use are durable and capable of lasting long. They are also more comfortable than other indoor soccer shoes, making them good candidates for women’s indoor soccer shoes.

Price wise, SENDA Ushuaia Club are some of the more expensive shoes, but still fall in the mid-price range.

PUMA Unisex Solarflash II Indoor Court Shoes

Another unisex product by PUMA, the Solarflash II, these shoes were added to our list because they meet all the criteria established above for an indoor soccer shoe for women. They are well cushioned, well built, and surprisingly light-weight.

UPPER – PUMA’s Solarflash Ii are made to fit both men and women. The uppers are made of mesh, fitted within a supporting structure made of synthetic material. As a result, these shoes are not flabby despite the mesh. Instead, they offer stability to the shoes and subsequently, to the feet inside to shoes :). The combination offers both support and breathability.

PUMA Unisex Solarflash II Indoor Court Shoes

Shoe Specs:

  • Upper: Mesh
  • Insole: EVA
  • Midsole: EVA
  • Outsole: Gum rubber
  • Weight: 7oz
  • Fit: Normal to wide
  • Closure: Laceup

PUMA Solarflash II are a sturdily designed, wide fitting indoor soccer shoe. They are built as unisex shoes, but are very comfortable on women’d feet. PUMA Solarflash is made from synthetic materials: breathable mesh and synthetics in the upper, EVA in the insoles and midsoles, and gum rubber in the outsole. With all the padding in the sides and the insole, these are another great option for players looking for comfort, without wanting to sacrifice on the weight as PUMA Solarflash II are super lightweight.

The support skeleton does not only provide shape to the shoe, it also offers some slight support down the sides and middle of the shoe. This is especially good for women as the lateral support adds to foot comfort.

Insole + Midsole – The inside of the shoe is lined with more breathable material. The sides are cushioned lightly, while there is a reasonably thick midsole foam made of EVA. The great thing here is the arch support. Women with high insteps will be sure to find the shoes a good fit.

Outsole – The gum rubber soles on these PUMAs have a unique pattern. The grooved lines are arranged in carefully arranged blocks to optimize grip in multiple directions. The deep cut near the front facilitates bending by making the shoe more flexible. The ridged lines are higher than those on the average indoor soccer shoe. They are still non marking, and although we thought they might not grip the smooth floor as well, we were pleasantly surprised to see that this was not the case. The traction is good, and the shoes stick quite well to the ground.

Weight – Probably the best feature of the PUMA Solarflash II is their weight. These shoes are super lightweight, weighing around 7oz, which is amazing when you think of the well cushioned soles. These shoes showcase the best balance we could find between support for both heels and arches without compromising on the weight.

Price – And lastly, with all the excellent features, it has a killer price tag too. PUMA Solarflash II fall in the easier, mid-price range. They may not be as durable as Adidas or Nike but they will not fall apart too quickly and will last a decent amount of time.

Diadora Women’s Capitano ID Indoor Court Shoes

Diadora Women’s Capitano ID is one the few indoor soccer shoes specifically made to fit women’s feet. Most other brands make do with unisex shoes. Diadora Capitano, is therefore, one of the best options for women in indoor soccer shoes.

PUMA Unisex Solarflash II Indoor Court Shoes

Shoe Specs:

  • Upper: Synthetic leather
  • Insole: EVA
  • Midsole: EVA
  • Outsole: Gum rubber
  • Weight: 12oz
  • Fit: Wide
  • Closure: Laceup

Diadora Capitano ID for women are one of the few shoes designed specifically for women’s feet. They are comfortably cushioned, with a good touch. The outsole has decent traction, and the patterns add stability for cutting and running. The fit is neither loose nor snug for the average foot. Good quality materials (PU, mesh, EVA, and gum rubber) ensure that these shoes will last you several months of light usage.

UPPER – The uppers in Diadora Capitano ID are made of synthetic PU (polyurethane) leather, so are very durable and can withstand rough treatment more than other shoes in the same price range. Stitched lines increase ball control, and minimal cushioning in the upper allows increased sensitivity and touch. Combined, these two make the upper in Diadora Capitano both comfortable and sensitive.

The tongue and collar are both padded but the tongue is thin and short and does not provide much protection. Instead it performs the simple but important function of stabilizing the lacing and providing a layer between the laces and the foot.

Laces are long and the eyelets are placed close so you can adjust the fit according to your comfort.

Insole + Midsole – Speaking of comfort, there is a fixed insole to provide cushioning and cotton lined interior that fits snugly around the foot. Breathable cotton is the best lining for sports shoes, being at once comfortable and supportive. In this case, the material is mesh.

Midsole is thick, made from a well built EVA foam.

Outsole – The outsole is gum rubber, quite durable and sturdy. Circular patterns on the outer edge enhance lateral stability, while the zigzag patterns ensure that it has a good drip on the indoor floor. Crisscrossing lines are placed to increase flexibility. The pivot point adds to the overall performance by making turns smoother.

Fit-wise, Diadora Capitano leans more towards wider feet, but you can partially adjust the fit using the laces.

Weight-wise, they are on the heavier side of indoor soccer shoes. There are many options which are far lighter than the 12oz Diadora Capitano, but this also means that these shoes are a good deal more comfortable to wear. The padding is very useful for women who need extra cushioning in the heels.

Price – Mid to low price range

Can Women Wear Men’s Shoes?

This might be a good place to ask ourselves if there is any difference between men’s and women’s indoor soccer shoes. Can women just use smaller men’s shoes? Or are they just marketing propaganda? According to the Scientific American, men and women have different shaped feet and wearing the shoes aimed for men’s feet can increase the risk of injury for women. There have been several studies showing that there are significant differences between the anatomies of the male and female foot. Due to these variations, women should wear shoes tailored to their general foot shape, and avoid using men’s shoes.

While it may be obvious to some that men and women have feet that fall in different size ranges, most people do not realize that the distinctions are not limited to size. Women’s feet can be different in terms of

  1. Foot shape
  2. Arch
  3. Size

Keep in mind that these are based on general differences and do not take into account individual diversity, so there may well be women out there who will be perfectly comfortable wearing men’s shoes. Our purpose here is to increase a general understanding of how shoes should be chosen and the factors to consider before making the purchase in regards to women.

  1. Foot shape

Women’s feet are more slender overall than men’s and are also slimmer at the heels. Women have wider toes compared to heels. Men’s feet are wider throughout. How will these things effect them if women choose a men’s shoe? Heel slippage: they might feel that their feet slip around in their shoes. Sports shoes in general, and indoor soccer shoes in particular, must have snug fits; otherwise the players may end up with an injury on field. Close-fitted shoes are essential on the indoor soccer field because of the almost constant fast-paced action constantly during play.

  1. Arch

Women tend to have higher and longer arches than men. This means that if you’re a women with average feet, you might need more arch support in your shoes compared to the average man. Without the right support, you risk ankle sprains or even microfractures (because of the undue stress on the bones of your feet).

To avoid injuries, it is best to choose shoes which offer arch support. Alternatively, you can also use inserts that perform the same function.

  1. Size

This is a no brainer. Women’s feet are smaller than men’s. There is an average difference of around 1.5 times. But the important thing to note is that it is not simply a matter of sizing down one or two sizes from the men’s variety. Men’s shoes do not offer the required support to women’s feet (arch/ankle).

In addition to their feet shapes, the female lower limbs structure transfers pressure at different regions of the foot compared to men. Women’s arches flatten more while walking/running. More support is needed along the edges of the foot too.

The conclusion to draw here is simple: women need a different shoe design from men. What we did in this article was to find as many shoes as we could that could fit the gender specific needs for women and present the best of our finds to you.
